Donegal Summer Festival Free Concerts
1st to 4th July 2010

The preparations for this year’s Donegal Town Summer Festival are well and truly underway. Building on the huge success of last year we are hoping for a bigger and even better event this year. One of the goals of the Festival is the same as last year to provide as much top class entertainment as possible free of charge. Fundraising has already begun with a very successful succession of pub quiz’s held every Monday night. A great night is had by all with quiz master extraordinaire Shay Carabin and wife Maeve as score keeper, specialist rounds include picture and music rounds. Festival Poster.....

Another hugely successful fundraiser from last year was the `Stars in their Eyes’ competition where the likes of Tina Turner and Bob Dylan took to the stage in Donegal Town like you have never seen them before. Anyone of the huge crowd that were there last year will know what a great nights entertainment it was. Sunday 20th June is the big night for the competition this year. Anyone interested in entering the competition can do so by contacting Sinead on 087- 6544504.

This years Festival will be held over a four day period from Thursday July 1st until Sunday July 4th and will feature some of Ireland’s top bands and the best of home grown talent . Here is a rundown of the festival programme so far. Printable Timetable available here....

The festivities will commence on Thursday evening July 1st with the official opening and a traditional Irish night.

We are delighted that Sean Gallagher, the entrpreneur, founder of Smarthomes and Dragons Den panel member, will perform the official opening on Thursday !st July. We are also pleased to announce that Alan Shortt, comedian seen in TV shows such as Bull Island and Father Ted, will be appearing.

On Friday July 2nd, the town will be treated to the fantastic tunes of the ‘Smash Hits‘ a fantastic 90‘s cover band from Dublin with a large following. They are one of the country’s best cover bands playing to huge crowds at every gig, they are sure to put on a very memorable performance.

Saturday July 3rd will be a fun-filled day for kid‘s of all ages . We will once again have face painting, live circus acts, a fancy dress disco, bouncy castles, slides and much more for all to enjoy on the Diamond . Later in the evening, one of Ireland ‘s biggest upcoming bands the Delorentos will take to the main stage playing some of there biggest hits such as S.E.C.R.E.T.S, Do You Realise, Neon and many more. They will be followed on stage by one of Irelands Biggest bands the Republic of Loose, an amazing night of music is guaranteed.

The Fun does not stop there, on Sunday July 4th, one of the most exciting new groups to hit the Irish music scene ’John Shelly and the Creatures’ will play the main stage . The band are best known for there song ‘Long May You Reign’ which features on the discover Northern Ireland Ad. And if that wasn’t enough one of Irelands biggest and most loved Groups the ‘Saw Doctors’ will rock the Diamond, with such hits as N17, I Used To Love Her , and The Joyce Country Ceili Band , they will certainly give the festival the finish it deserves .

Don’t forget all concerts are open air and all are FREE!!!

Alongside all the fantastic music acts, the festival will be jammed packed with numerous fun-filled activities for all ages. We will have the annual duck race, the Eske windscreen go-kart grand prix, the seafood competition and the “It’s a Barman’s Knockout” competition, to name but a few.

Another great festival is in store for all the family.
