Taste of Donegal Food Festival

Taste 0f Donegal
27th – 29th August

Message From Committee

We finished our first Taste Of Donegal Food Festival in 2009 on a real high and the small Committee are very proud of what we achieved with our first event.

There were many challenges, finance and weather to name but a few, but the whole community got behind us and made the event the success that it was. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped in any way before during and after the festival. The weekend attracted between 8,000 and 10,000 people to Donegal Town and was a major boost to the local economy.

This year’s festival will be much larger with Exhibitors and Artisan Food Producers from Dublin, Belfast, Cork , Galway and including many more from the North West Region. Many of our fine local Restaurants and Hotel’s will be tantalising your taste buds with sampling and tastings of the many dishes their menus contain.

This year’s line up of Celebrity Chefs includes Conrad Gallagher, Neven Maguire, Catherine Fulvio and Joe Shannon.

The Opening Ceremony will be performed by an Tánaiste Mary Coughlan and the Donegal Tenors followed by our first cookery demonstration of the Festival with Donegal’s Celebrity Chef Conrad Gallagher who will be assisted by an Tánaiste.

During the three-day Festival we will have demonstrations by an Bord Bia, Associated Craft Butchers of Ireland and for wine lovers tastings and wine appreciation classes.

Saturdays highlight will be a demonstration by Celebrity Chef Neven Maguire, followed on Sunday by double helpings with Celebrity Chefs Catherine Fulvio and Joe Shannon assisted by Margaret Carr Flynn from Ocean Fm. We will also have demonstrations by local Chefs show-casing the exceptional cuisine available in Donegal Town and the surrounding area.

The finale of the Festival will be the presentation to the winner of the Chefs Competition, which will be taking place in Restaurants and Hotels in the area over the Festival weekend. The aim of the Committee is to make this festival a major annual event and further develop and promote Donegal Town and the surrounding area. So come along and join us in our celebration of good food and drink and discover, dine and delight in Donegal Town, the best food destination in Ireland.
